Many great series don’t make it to season three.
Thankfully, our Blitzers have been renewed for another campaign, now against the more appropriate placement in the Great Lakes Conference of the NPSL. Our opponents this year are bastions of economic hardships- Rust Belt economies much like ourselves. Formidable new foes (Detroit, Cleveland), underdog cities that have yet to make a mark (Binghamton), and old, smelly, open-air dumpster teams (Erie) round out the competition this year.
The Situation Room has been FC Buffalo’s premier supporters section since day one, and we’ve evolved from randomized yelling to synchronized power and podcasts. We’ve come from one hand-painted banner to displays of tifo, streamers, and numerous other accoutrements. Personally, I have met some of the greatest human beings I know because of this group; these people are more ravenous in their support than even I (and that’s saying a lot) and their resolve is unmatched.
I am a fan of FC Buffalo because of who and what they are. To me, the Blitzers are a team that are synonymous with what Buffalo represents as a whole- a city that has been able to hang with the dominant forces so long yet sentenced to an endless barrage of heartache, frustration, and relative unimportance.
That’s all about to change.
That’s why (I suppose), on behalf of The Situation Room, I’m personally appealing for your help. Our great request is that you join the collective dream of building something greater than ourselves with our community, the power in our hands (and feet), and the breath in our lungs. We don’t need billionaires. We don’t need millionaires. We simply need the steadfast belief that our best days are in the future.
This year, when someone asks who the boss is, we can confidently reply “us”.
Get on board, folks- this train’s about to leave the station and we’d love to have you join us on it. Walk into All-High on a weekend during this summer and hang a quick left. (We’re hard to miss.)
